The Microsoft Dynamics NAV conference, Directions EMEA 2014 opened in Poland this morning to great fanfare and excitement. The key note was delivered by Paul White, General Manager, ERP Product Management and was a lively start to the event. The big news is the launch of Dynamics NAV 2015, officially released last week, and the continued rise of Dynamics NAV.

 

Dynamics NAV 2015 is an evolution of NAV 2013 rather than a revolution. However, with the focus on usability and mobile, the small improvements add up to impressive “wow factor”. NAV 2015 interacts with users more intuitively than before, with graphs and KPIs on a dashboard that can be accessed by Windows, Web and Tablet client. The integration with Office 365 and continued fine tuning for Windows Azure meets users demand for access anywhere solutions and with a quarter of the bandwidth now required, this really does mean access pretty much anywhere. Dynamics NAV 2015 is a lot about the user interface. It is also about streamlining processes in areas such as cash management where a more complex algorithm for bank reconciliations has improved efficiency by 75%. For reports, NAV 2015 allows users to make use of Word for formatting documents (and with access to 1000+ Word online templates) rather than rely on IT teams to redesign templates.

 

Social Listening features emphasize the overlap and blurring of CRM with ERP. Dynamics NAV has always had great CRM functionality, the introduction of social listening data into the NAV dashboard underlines the importance of knowing what the wider world has to say about your customers, supplier and products through sentiment data.

 

And crucially all these great functions and features have been made easier to deploy. The “Rapid Start” tool set provided as part of the Sure Step implementation methodology has been improved to enable organisations to get up and running quickly on NAV 2015; enjoying the return on investment that much quicker.

 

Are we surprised that in the last 12 months there has been a 35% increase in the number of Dynamics NAV users? Not at all, it is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition and its Dynamics “stable mates”. No wonder Dynamics NAV 2015 rated over 90% on usability score.”
